WHAT ARE MEBROM 100 AND MEBROM 98/2?

Methyl Bromide is stored and shipped as a liquefied gas under pressure in cylinders. Thanks to its low boiling point (3.6 °C), Methyl Bromide turns into a gas when it is released from its cylinder. It works as a fumigant for containers and goods in quarantine and pre-shipment and for other applications under Critical Use Exemptions or Emergency Uses.

MEBROM 100 is a fumigant containing 100% Methyl Bromide, a colorless and odorless gas of extremely high purity that leaves no detectable residue after fumigation.

98/2

MEBROM 98/2 contains 98% of Methyl Bromide and 2% of Chloropicrin which serves as a warning agent.
This formulation is specifically targeted at fumigations of durable non-food commodities.

APPLICATION

For the fumigation of commodities, which may be infested with pests when harvested or later, the use of Methyl Bromide is often necessary to meet quarantine or pre-shipment (QPS) and phytosanitary or other contractual requirements for imports and exports.

Under emergency use provisions, Methyl Bromide can also be used in soil, post-harvest, structures (grain storage facilities, flour mills, food processing units), and transport fumigation (ships, freight containers, trucks or trains carrying agricultural commodities) to control all kinds of pests.

Methyl Bromide can also be used under Critical Use Exemptions (CUE) granted by the Montreal Protocol.
